IRISH STUDIES

Irish Studies has strong roots to Âé¶¹Èë¿Ú and is the perfect major (or minor) to take to Ireland. The Irish Studies Program encourages students to approach coursework in Ireland toÌýdeepen students' understandings ofÌýthe history, culture, religion,Ìýpolitics, literature,Ìýand society of Ireland

²Ñ²¹Âá´Ç°ù:ÌýGlobal Interdisciplinary Studies offers students the opportunity to major in Irish Studies. The GIS: Irish Studies major requires that students study abroad for one semester or a summer program with a minimum length of six weeks. Majors are strongly encouraged to consider programs in Ireland.ÌýMajors should review theÌýGIS MAPÌýfor additional GIS major information on "Academic Planning" and "Timing" for their study abroad experience.

²Ñ¾±²Ô´Ç°ù:ÌýStudents can also pursue anÌýIrish studies minor. Please contact the Director of theÌýIrish Studies programÌýto discuss the curriculum and how to fit anÌýIrish Studies minor into your Âé¶¹Èë¿Ú curriculum.

The Irish Studies Program encourages students to consider programs that provide practical experiences. Internships, field work and lab research are wonderful ways to gain hands-on, professional experience.Ìý

The OEA can help students with the scholarship search and application process. If a scholarship is found outside of the OEA scholarship page, students should have it reviewed by the OEA to determine if it is a viable option.
