Lucci Personal Enrichment Program | Policies and Procedures
The Bernard John LucciSenior CitizenPersonal Enrichment Program at 鶹 invites lifelong learners aged 65 and better to audit classes,participatein campus life, and engage meaningfully with our vibrant community through the shared pursuit of truth, unity, and love.
Personal Enrichment students may audit approved courses, on a space-available basis, during the fall and spring semesters. Course offerings and availability vary each term.On occasion, the program offers exclusive learning opportunities for Personal Enrichment students, including lecture series, workshops, andspecial events.
Participation in this program is free of charge; however, there is a fee for parking on campus.
Step 1: Apply
Prior to enrolling in a course, interested individuals mustsubmitan application, available on the Bernard John Lucci Personal EnrichmentProgramwebsite. Proof of age (e.g., driver’s license) isrequiredas part of the application.
Applications must be submitted at least two weeks prior to the start of the semester.The 鶹 Academic Calendar is availableherefor reference.
Applicants will receive an acceptance letter once their application has been approved.
Students who have not registered for a course in twoor moreyears are considered inactive and must reapply.
鶹 email and login credentials for new Personal Enrichment students are issued following acceptance into the program.
Step 2: Browse Courses
Each semester, a select number of coursesare availablefor Personal Enrichment students to audit. These coursesarefinalizedseveral weeks before the application period begins.Other learning opportunities, such as lecture series exclusive to Personal Enrichment students, may also be announced during this time
Personal Enrichment students may register foreitherone course or one lecture series per semester.
Personal Enrichment students are notpermittedto contact faculty members directly to request approval to register for a course.
Step 3: Register for a Course
Personal Enrichment students register during an assigned window that beginsat10 a.m.andends at3pmon thesecondbusiness day after the drop/add period ends.
Personal Enrichment students may not register for a course if:
- there are no available seats, or
- themaximum number of Personal Enrichment studentshas already been reached.(Typically, one Personal Enrichment student can be admitted perfivetraditional undergraduate students, with no more than fivein total.)
Personal Enrichment studentsmay register onlyfor courses that carry the“CPSPEApproved”attribute.
Step 4: Prepare for Class
After registration and prior to attending class, Personal Enrichment students must:
- Obtain aparkingpermit(if applicable)
- Obtain a Wildcard (student ID)
- Set up their 鶹 email address
- Access Blackboard (鶹’s learning management system)
Step5: Attend Class
Once registered, Personal Enrichment students may begin attending class.
Personal Enrichment students are not permitted to attend class prior to completing registration.
What Does It Mean to Audit?
Upon enrollment, Personal Enrichment studentsare expected toconfer with their instructors to understand the expectations and level of engagement permitted while auditing the course.The level and nature of participation permitted may vary by instructor. Some instructors may preferthat auditingstudentsobserveclass sessions without active participation, while others may allow questions or limited engagement in class discussions.
Instructors are notobligatedto review, provide feedback on, or assign grades to worksubmittedby auditing students. The instructordeterminestheappropriate levelof participation and engagement for auditing students in their class.
Faculty membersretainthe rightto opt in or opt out of having their courses made available to Personal Enrichment students.Accordingly, Personal Enrichment studentsmust conduct themselves with professionalism and respectat all times and adhere to any guidelines or expectations established by the instructor for the auditing experience.
Auditing students do not receive final grades or course credit.

Students are expected to abide by the policies and proceduresset forth inthis document, as well asthe.
Any violation of these policies will result in disciplinary action,up to and including removal from the program.
